Life and Family: Life is good. My daughter, Lauren, and my son, Josh bring me great joy. Lauren has two adorable boys, ages 4 and almost 2, and being a Grandmother is wonderful. My work for the National Flood Insurance Program is interesting and challenging. I enjoy living in VA and taking advantage of all the great things in the Washington DC area.
Next 10 Years: Considering getting a certificate in mediation from George Mason U. and doing mediation work part-time. However, I'm on the fence. Might, instead, want to retire at about 63 or 65 and travel, take fun classes, do some volunteer stuff, and enjoy the Grandkids.
Favorite Memories: Starting with Jackson Park Elementary, roaming the playground at recess with Sheila Brin, hanging out with Karen Fleisher, Marilyn Raifee, Beverly Padratzik, Randee Ross, Valerie, Margie S., Gloria Spiritas, and Rhody Eisenstein, Gerry Musen, Alfie and Harry Toll. Expanding friendships at Hanley Jr. High to Debbie Ruffman, Ellen Eisen, Ellen Rashbaum, Mark Kaufman, Bobby Arnold, Mark Wiseman, Mark ?, Tommy Mansbacher, and more. Then, at U.City High, spending many wonderful hours with Karen Markovitz, and fun times with Joani Kristol, Racey Cohen. Being in awe of the talents of Kathy Ku. Russian class with Mrs. Rosenbaum, and Friday Fun Day. Folk dancing at the Heman Park Community Center to the Salty Dog Rag with Tommy Mansbacher. It was almost like flying! Dairy Queen and Dairy Dell, and Hamburger Heaven and Steak n' Shake. Riding bikes to Washington U, and Forest Park, and climbing in the waterfall. Taking the bus to the Fox Theatre with lots of girlfriends, see! ing the movie "The Birds", and going nuts when we saw a flock of pidgeons outside the theatre afterwards. And, many New Years Eve sleep-over parties at my (my parents') house. Does anyone remember the Saturday afternoon at my house, when we smoked my Mom's Salem cigarettes, decided we needed to cover up the smoke smell before she returned, so we turned on the air conditioner and left the house for a while, to see if when we returned the smoke was gone. Meanwhile, we locked ourselves out of the house. The only way in was to break a basement window, where Margie S., the smallest of us, climbed through to open the door. U.City was a great place to grow up, and my memories of people and places there are cherished.

Since the last reunion I have lived in Sylvania, Ohio, Waterford, Mi. and now Portage, Mi., a suburb of Kalamazoo. I sell carpeting and flooring for a local company and my husband, Jon, is a self-employed benefits advisor. Despite the winter weather here we are enjoying this part of the state which doesn't seem to have as many economic woes as other areas of Michigan. We have downsized into a beautiful new condominium on the site of a former golf course and are enjoying that carefree lif! estyle. We are only 2 1/2 hours from Chicago and Detroit. Jon and I are active in our synagogue and still exploring the area, having only lived here since Oct. I have not yet met any U. City graduates in the Kalamazoo area.
Next 10 Years: I hope to say I am retired at the next reunion. I would love to be able to spend more time with my present and any future grandchildren. Travel would also be another high priority while I am still in good enough shape to enjoy it. Most of all I hope to have continued good health to achieve all of these goals.
Favorite Memories: I loved that everything to make my life complete at the time was safely in the cocoon of U. City- excellent education, caring family and teachers and enough activities to keep me entertained. Most of all I have fond memories of the wonderful friends I made, many of whom are still my close friends today.

Present Occupation: Founder/Director/Physical Therapist of Renaissance healing & Learning Center

Life and Family: Because of a back injury in 1996, I was able to create a Vocational Rehab program of my dreams: I had been working as a Physical Therapist for over 25 years when I sustained a back injury which created problems enough so I couldn't work for 2 years. In 1998, I continued my path of working with Special Needs population with equine assisted therapy. In 2000, I received a Graduate Certificate in Hippotherapy from Western Michigan University. In 1998, after having been working as a physical therapist in assorted clinical and home health settings, I founded Renaissance Healing & Learning Center. It is located in Cotati, CA. in Sonoma County, which is an hour north of San Francisco. We provide "Hippotherapy" (...Healing on Horseback)and other forms of Equine Assisted Therapy for children and adults with physical and emotional challenges. Our website (created by one of my sons, Jay Sandler)is www.rhlc.net I have 5 horses (Stormy, Allie, Libby, Smoke, and Buddy)! who are the "therapists". Allie, a Thoroughbred was abandoned at a local racetrack, which I rehabilitated to become a therapy horse. In 2005, Allie was chosen by North American Riding for the Handicapped Association as Thrapy Horse of the Year for Region 11 (California, Hawaii, Nevada). Buddy, a cute Paint Miniature Horse with one blue eye, pulls a cart. Libby is a Tennessee Walking Horse, Stormy and Smoke are Missouri Fox Trotters! I have also become certified in Aquatic Therapy and have been enjoying that venue as well. I was divorced in 2000, and was able to buy a home on 2 acres in 2001, just around the corner from the therapy facility. My daughter, Sarah, now 12 yrs. old attends a Special Ed. day class, and lives half time with me. I have recently acquired a Canine Companion Facility Service Dog, "Max", whose job it is to help with therapy at Renassance Healing & Learning. We are the first Equine Assisted Therapy program to have a therapy dog from Canine Companions for Independence. Max also is helping a great deal with Sarah as well. My grown sons, Mike, Rob, and Jay are doing well. Michael has moved to L.A. and continues his work in the non-profit field of social, environmental, and economics. Jay is working in the bio-tech industry, and attending classes toward his MBA. Twin brother Rob is working on his graduate degree in astro-physics....
Next 10 Years: Spend more time with family, continue the work that I have, hoping to prosper, stay healthy, and continuing to enjoy wonderful friendships. Play the piano. Take more vacations.

After graduating from high school I recieved a B.A. in sociology from UMSL-which I have yet to use. For about 20 years my husband and I had drugstores in North St. Louis. Still enjoy playing the game of "where did you go to high school". Starting in 1997 I started going to family reunions-relatives from my great grandmothers branch (the Chana branch) and the other 5 branches(her brothers and sisters. The first gathering was held in the Catskills . It was overwhelming to suddenly know all these distant cousins. I now have relatives from England, USA,Italy,Israel,Canada, and South America. spend a lot of time emailing all the relatives-this has been a truly wonderful and fulfilling experince.

Life and Family: I have enjoyed living in Los Angeles since I moved here in 1978. My husband Jerry and I recently completely gutted and remodeled our hillside home (and still managed to stay married!). We have wonderful views from our deck of the San Andreas mountains in one direction and the lights of Hollywood in the other and would wecome sharing them with old friends from U.City who are visiting the L.A. area. I have happily cut back my law practice to part-time. My husband continues to enjoy working in the entertainment industry as a cinematographer, directing the lighting on videos, commercials, and documentaries. Our son Gareth Mandel just graduated in May from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in political science and will be moving to and starting work in New York City in July. Gareth spent a semester and a summer in Prague and I had the pleasure of being able to visit and travel with him...just as my mother (who is 91 and still living in St. Louis) did when she visited me during my junior year abroad in France 35 years ago. And Gareth was as impatient with me and my inability to keep up with his pace and stay up until all hours as I was back then with my mother and her tired feet and early bedtimes. So, as the song goes, "I've looked at clouds from both sides now."
Next 10 Years: I look forward to becoming a grandmother (although my 21 year old son says this is not likely to happen in the next 10 years). I hope to have the time and health to be able to travel extensively with my husband and to eventually open a small antique store in either a beach community or the wine country of Northern California (and I promise to give great discounts to my former U City classmates).
Favorite Memories: Even back in high school, I knew I was lucky to spend time on a daily basis with such a large group of remarkable people...from inspirational teachers like Mrs. Eckstein, Ms. Rothschild, Mr. Hale, Ms. Meyerhart, and Mr. Jackoway to my fellow students, whether I was in classes with them, on the Student Council, Senior Cabinet, Junior/Senior Prom, Senior Carnival or Dial committees with them or just hanging out with them at lunch, before or after school or on weekends. In all my years since leaving U. City, I have not had the privelege of being around so many funny, bright, warm and open people at one time in one place. I was very sad to see some of their names on the "In Memoriam" list but heartened to read about others who are in remission from cancer or who have shown great strength in dealing with divorce, the death of a spouse or the illness of a child. I hope to be able to make it to our 40th reunion but, if I don't, I will still be picturing so many of your faces in my mind that weekend... but without bald heads, crows feet or gray hair!

Present Occupation: College administrator/fundraiser

Life and Family: I've made two major moves after the age of 47, each time re-inventing my life. I've spent my entire career in the not-for-profit sector--raised $65 million as vice-president for a small college in southeast Ohio (the biggest adventure of my career) and am now helping close out a much larger campaign. The job has allowed me to travel coast to coast, meet lots of fascinating people, and know that even on the worst days the work is "doing good." One adult son, two step-grandsons, and three cats.
Next 10 Years: Retire! Figure out where I'd like to live when I retire--hopefully, a climate where I can ride my bike every day. Spend as many hours as possible on a myriad of hobbies that have not had enough of my time and attention. But probably I'll continue to be a volunteer fundraiser for several causes important to me.
Favorite Memories: A few special teachers--and learning to love biology and art. Mary Jane Euston, who helped me find a college that changed my life. Playing field hockey. Two springs at Camp White Cloud (I can still sing the silly theme song!) Working on the Dial. Some very special friends...and a few folks that I remember fondly and wish that I had known better.

Life and Family: While at University of Miami Medical Center doing Pulmonary and Critical Fellowship, met Connecticut gal, Ellen, (who was working at the Miami Herald) on blind date on 1-7-1981. Thought she was too young and too wild and didn't call her again for two months.....married 5-7-1983 ! Been back in St. Louis since summer 1981. Oldest son, Corey, is 23, graduated with film and photography degrees U. of Miami and lives in N. Y. doing free lance cinematography. Middle son, T.J., is 21 and also a film major (and psychology) at U. of Miami and will start Senior year when he returns soon from living with a Spainish family in Santender, Spain. My youngest son, Michael, is 18 and will also be a film major at U. of Miami and starts freshman year in a few weeks. My boys wnet to John Burroughs which (in addition to College tuitions) is why I'm not retired ! Since I'm the middle of 3 boys, I have 3 boys, and Ellen has 4 brothers I promised her a girl but a female golden retri! ever was the best I could do ! After 22 years as pulmonary and Critical care doc at Mo. Baptist Hosp. I got burned out and made a change and am now medical co-director at St. Lukes Sleep Center. Hard to summarize life in this small space ! No room to reminisce about time as Human Cannonball with Royal American Circus ! (Ask me about this at reunion.)
Next 10 Years: I envision retirement to travel, read, take classes, play guitar, take dance lessons (put that last one in there to get points with my wife), etc as soon as my boys, the Eisenstein brothers, collaborate and make their first blockbuster film........( for those in class with prosopagnosia, i.e. facial recogntion issues, please don't do the "do you remember me ?" or the "do you know who I am ?" questions at the reunion so that there will be fewer awkward moments )
Favorite Memories: driving thru Steak-n-shake in my underware on a dare...throwing burning paper airplane out of Mr. Hale's chem lab with Steve Levy and, horrified, seeing it fly into classroom below and to later hear that it landed, ablaze, on Clara Gutsche's head. (That's how I remember it.)...falling backwards over railing of Debbie Ruffman's front enterance of her home into bush below when attempting to give good night kiss...Dating Sharon Rubin senior year. ( "scandalous", Gloria Spirtas told me that I should date a Commenchro girl ! )...lots of great memories kindergarden thru graduation and fun times with friends(luckily remote memory stays in tact although recent memory stinks )

Favorite Memories: Among my most favorite memories of U. City was the Pancake Breakfast, which I never attended, going to "H" for a Chuckwagon and fries with double sauce, being a card-carrying member of the Comancheros and memories of me being the best dressed in U.City high school history. I miss high school so much, I might try enrolling again.

Present Occupation: Occupational Therapist/ Hand Therapy

Life and Family: I have been married to Bruce Becker (class of '63) for 34 wonderful years. After all these years, he can still make me laugh. We have been in Atlanta for 30 years. Ten years ago, Bruce sold his surgical practice after obtaining his law degree and is now a partner in a patent law firm. I continue to work part-time as an Occupational Therapist, specializing in hand therapy. Our daughter, Lauren (26) graduated from Washington University in 2003 and is beginning her second year in Emory University's Physician Assistant Program. I continue to follow Big Ten football and was thrilled when our son Brian, (23) attended The University of Wisconsin, Madison (class of 2006). Brian is beginning his second year at Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta. Although we have worked very hard at our professions, Bruce and I have had the opportunity to travel extensively. Our most recent trip to Iceland was quite an adventure. I am sorry that won't be able to see everyone as I was recently in St. Louis for my husband's Pi Lambda Phi reunion from Wash U and am unable to come to St. Louis in August. Have a great time.
Next 10 Years: I hope to stay vibrant, healthy and cut back on work in the next five years. I do love working two days a week, as it keeps me active in my profession. I look forward to my children being employed. We will continue to travel. I would love to explore more Latin America and the Galapagos.
Favorite Memories: Great friends, Saturday football games, going to parties, Pep Club and GAA meetings and planning events and just being with great people. So many memories, so many friends and such a wonderful time in my life.

Bill Goggin

Spouse: Wanda Goggin
Present Occupation: Teacher/Soccer Coach

Life and Family: I have had a wonderful time teaching and coaching at Eureka High School in the Rockwood District. My greatest joy has been watching my son grow into a fine young man. He will be a sophomore at Eureka and plays mostly soccer and baseball. He is a great student, unlike his father, and my wife and I could not be more proud of him. We lost my mother several years ago, but my Dad is doing great and lives in our cabin in south central Mo. near the National Senic Riverways.
Next 10 Years: I will retire from Eureka High School in the next few years and for the most part we will bug our son at college(just kidding). We hope to travel more and live in the cabin down south.
Favorite Memories: There were so many. What a great time to be at U City High School. I remember great friends in many activities. I remember almost living in Heman Park during soccer and baseball seasons. I remember skipping Prom senior year because I could not afford to go. We sat at the Dairy Queen on Olive that whole evening, not really understanding what we were missing. I became a sports fan watching our football and basketball games. I remember Donkey Basketball at Ladue and the fight late in the game. So many great memories. It is hard to believe it has been 40 years!

Life and Family: Actually, our last 21 years have been quite adventurous. 1986 my husband, children, and I moved to Vegas, and enjoyed the benefits for 20 years. Now that our children have children it was time to leave Vegas as it it not the place you want to raise children. So togehter the research was on, as where is a good place to live and an excellent school district. All signs poined to southern MO. Great schools, close to the lakes, and still close enough to visit St Louis anytime. I will be married 39 yrs in July, and have 1 son John who is 38, married to Joanell, children are Aubryann 7 and JohnSam 3. Daughter Jodi, is married to Jesse and their children are Jessica 12 and Juliana 10. I guess that makes us the proudest grandparents of 4.
Next 10 Years: Within the next 10 years would like to retire and spend time at the lake.

Life and Family: Alan and I have been married for 35 years. We have seen our children grow into young adults and “leave the nest.” Marty, 30, is a residential director at the University of MO-Rolla; Shelley, 27, is in communications/radio in Jefferson City. I just retired after 35 years of teaching in the Ritenour School District. My retirement was short-lived. They offered me a part-time position as a Title I remedial reading teacher. So I retired as a gifted and talented teacher and now I am teaching reading! Alan and I have traveled to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, France, and Alaska. We will be taking a 2-week cruise to Alaska this summer.
Next 10 Years: In the next 10 years I hope to continue to have good health. Alan and I are active at the JCC. I enjoy aerobics, kickboxing, and stretching classes, and swimming. We like to go for long walks at Creve Coeur Lake. I hope in the next 10 years we can continue to do those activities.
Favorite Memories: I met Alan at Wig Wam. He was a senior and I was a sophomore. I went to Wig Wam with some girls. He came with one girl and left with me! We’ve been together ever since. I remember one day between classes, he was walking me to my next class and he had his arm around me. Dr. Boyer came up behind us and told Alan to get his arm off of me! We still laugh about that today. I remember Hamburger Heaven, meeting at Steak ‘n’ Shake, trying to find a place to park my car when I drove to school, and the Saturday afternoon football games when we were the Indians.

Life and Family: How about the last 40 years, cause it seems like I've totally lost touch with almost everyone. Married in 69, lived overseas for 10 years, had 2 sons, got divorced. OK, so much for the distant past.I lucked into a career I love, working in health science publishing for almost 28 years now. Have 2 great sons, 30 and 34, and 2 incredible grandchildren, 3 and 7. I lost both parents way too early, but I think I'm closer to my kids because of it.
Next 10 Years: Another 4 years on the job and then retire to Tampa to spend more time with my grandchildren. See my youngest son marry and start a family.I've read everyone else's blurb and mine sounds somewhat dull in comparison, but I guess it's really all about family for me. I've done all the traveling I really ever wanted, never was any good at sports, and I've really achieved everything I wanted on the career front, so I just want to sit back and enjoy the years ahead.
Favorite Memories: So many great memories--would that I had realized then how special the time was. Campaigning for Paul Hewitt (Hewitt can do it!) and yet still secretly voting for Rhody (certainly I wasn't the only girl with a gigantic crush on him, was I?). Staying clear of Mr. Shelnut's stick in history. Writing quips for the yearbook. Working on the Tom Tom. Starting a BBG chapter (is Kohavim still around?)and getting very caught up in BBYO. Trying to get as many things under my name in the yearbook as possible. Hanging with Janet and Eleanor and Rita--who I've totally lost touch with. So many other friends like Cheryl Honigberg and Sherry Garcia and the Steinberg twins. Wig Wam and Steak n Shake and Hamburger Heaven and football games and musicals and UN day. What I'd give to go back for awhile like Peggy Sue did.....

Present Occupation: Commercial Property Insurance Broker/Specialist

Life and Family: In 2005, while working as Executive VP of Operations for an Insuance Broker in Chicago, the company was bought out by another company and our office was closed. So, after 27 years in Chicago, we packed up the dog, the cat, the rest of our belongings and with tears in our eyes (and no job), headed off into the sunset. Actually, we headed southeast and now reside in West Palm Beach, FL. Due to my engineering and insurance background, I was able to land a job at a large national insurance brokerage operation not far from where we live. We actully wanted to get away from the rat race in Chicago for some time now and this just seemed to be the right time to do it. It is truly like living in paradise; the palm trees and ocean. An occasional hurricane beats the heck out Chicago winters.
Next 10 Years: Staying healthy and in good enough shape continue playing softball and golf as well as traveling a little more.
Favorite Memories: My favorite memory was what a close knit commnity we where. Playing corkball and indian ball, "Sloppy Sid's" (Jack & Jill), the Beverly, Tivoli & Varsity movie houses, our tree house by the creek, etc.

Life and Family: I realize that I was always a late bloomer, so I have been raising kids for the last 10 years. I have two sons age 17 and 14 and while many of us have grandchildren , I didn't quite do it that way and it has been great. I am also juggling married life and a full time private practice as a pychologist in Kansas City. I feel I am in a different phase of my life after years of irresponsibility and fun times, life is a little more serious which seems like a great place to be right now.
Next 10 Years: I don't know, I don't think retirement is in my future, which I don't mind since I love my job and all that is going on. I hope to have more adventures, try new things and always have things to look forward to.
Favorite Memories: I have mixed feelings about high school, some good, some not. I remember driving around, going to Steak n' Shake on Olive. Hanging out with Sherry Garcia and I especially being with Charlotte Rosenthal, Danny Raben, Greg Perlstein, Rita Shapiro, Lou Wiener and many other friends. I guess the best part was the people though I have lost contact with them all. And I remeber being with Janet Zwibleman.

Spouse: Marla Hewitt
Phone Number: (301) 229 1590
E-mail Address: phewitt@akingump.com
Present Occupation: Attorney/Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Washington, DC

Life and Family: Time is passing too quickly! I've been married to wonderful Marla for 22 years. We have two wonderful daughters, Rachel 18 and Anna 21. I've been living in the Washington DC area since 1975, working at my law firm almost 29 years doing antitrust law, mostly in the area of mergers and acquisitions (read about it here: http://www.akingump.com/attorney.cfm?attorney_id=97).
My 87-yr-old mother still lives in the same U City house on Pershing Ave. across the street from Flynn Park School, so I get back to St. Louis occasionally. In May 2007 I was the videographer for a family wedding at the World's Fair Pavilion in Forest Park, with side trips for pictures to the Muni and the Arch. I rediscovered how beautiful St. Louis is.
I had prostate cancer surgery at Johns Hopkins in 2004. They said they got it all. I hope they're right! (So far so good.) Being knocked on my kiester gave me a renewed appreciation for the preciousness of life and the joys of work and family.
Next 10 Years: I want to keep improving my tennis game and win some quality tournaments before time passes me by. I want to keep improving my abilities as a lawyer (they do call it "practicing" law, after all), and win some more big cases. I want to read all the books I've been promising myself to read some day (including some from college lit classes where I settled for Cliff Notes). I want to spend gobs of time with Marla, romping in all the pleasure domes of the world. I want my daughter Rachel to achieve her goal of becoming a psychologist. And I want my special needs daughter Anna to emerge from her residential treatment cocoon like the beautiful butterfly I know she is.
Favorite Memories: My fondest high school memory is of falling in love at our junior year prom. But I wistfully think of lots of other things too. Friends first of all, embedded in my heart. But also--
Cyrano's, Vias, Esquire Cue Club, Steak n Shake. And when Miss Rothschild said the stage manager in "Our Town" was meant to be God, and we wrote Thornton Wilder and asked him about it, and he wrote back and said "no" and said our English teacher had overanalyzed the play. (Except maybe Miss Rothschild was actually right.) And when Sherri Danzig talked me into peroxiding my hair (but didn't tell me you had to wash the peroxide out after a few minutes). And the Music Man cast party. And modeling Greek Sculpture in Miss Hotchner's Sr. year English class. And staying up most of the night laughing with Mike Brewen et al. in our White Cloud counselors' cabin. And playing (second string though I was) on our 0-7-1 (or something like that) football team that was really a great team with a great heart despite going winless, and should have beaten Ladue except the stupid ref didn't blow the whistle when the Ladue quarterback was tackled and clearly on the ground (and instead he! threw the winning pass). And singing Gaudeamus Igitur in Mr. Hale's Chemistry class. (Did he really cut off his toe with a lawn mower and have it gilded?) And all the political campaigns and speeches.
And the amazing sense of belonging--to the school, the community, and to each other--even if we didn't completely consciously realize it at the time. All at the end of an era--just before the world was to change in so many ways in 1968. I always think of the words of this song--do I have room for them here?

Those were the days, my friend, We thought they'd never end, We'd sing and dance forever and a day, We'd live the life we'd choose, We'd fight and never lose, For we were young and sure to have our way.

Life and Family: I’m still happily settled in Columbia, MO with my phenomenal husband of 38 years, Randy (Webster Groves ’66). Our four children, ages 23 to 34, are amazing, as are our five grandchildren (ages 1-12). We are blessed to spend a lot of time with the three grandchildren that are in town. I garden extensively, teach Tai Chi, volunteer with various organizations and play my violin in a quartet. We just bought a horse, which may mean our mid-life crisis is upon us; or, I should say Randy’s. It makes life fuller. He still enjoys the V.A. Hospital.
I like to travel, having gone overseas a few times, including two trips to Israel (once for our son’s wedding) .We’ve taken our kids on huge drives around the country, and now do them on our own or with the grandkids. We also travel close to home, seeing our families and going to our old-fashioned cabin near Ware. When I stay in U.City I try to go folkdancing.
Next 10 Years: Looking to the future, I would of course like more grandkids and to get-togethers with family and friends. I would also like to travel more, especially to the National Parks we went to so many years ago. Could I finally get organized?….hmmmmm.
Favorite Memories: The intelligent and talented people I knew, the dates ,the dances, football games, orchestra and performing in the pit for our musicals, home room, International Folkdancing at Heman Park, Cyrano’s, Latin and Miss Patterson, art with Mrs. Shaw (nee Cooper), where I had to weld a junk sculpture, student government, the driving machine with Mr. Buffa, the whole Camp White Cloud experience (I saved the manuals and stuff from Camp – can you believe it!), art editor for the Dial, Shelnutt / Angelides and their enthusiasm, Miss Harris reciting Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, playing varsity field hockey………We were a great class in a great school.

Present Occupation: Podiatrist

Life and Family: My last 10 years have been especially wonderful for Elaine and me. We have been blessed to watch our wonderful children become special adults right before our eyes. They (Lisa and Greg) have both met, fell in love, and married their soul mates and they have given us four unbelievable grandchildren. Madison, 5, Samantha, 3, Max, 3, and Ben, 1. Those of you who have been blessed to have grandchildren know what I'm talking about. We are very lucky that they all live in town, because we are both very hands on grandparents (Pop and Meme). They usually sleep over at least once a week and we babysit alot. Of course, the best part is being able to give them back to their parents, they really poop us out. My work continues to be both rewarding and fun, so I plan to continue working for many years to come (I pray). I started playing men's baseball (hardball) about 8 years ago, and except for my job and family, it is the best thing in my life. It's great fun and we old! timers are happy when we come home without pulling or tearing something important. Elaine and I love to travel, cruising especially, or any other internet special Elaine can find
Next 10 Years: I sincerely hope and pray that the next 10 years of my life are as rewarding, healthy, and peaceful as the last ten. Watching my wonderful children and grandchilren grow and mature is my greatest joy in the world. I hope to continue working as long as I stay healthy and it is both rewarding and fun. Of course, I plan on playing my hardball baseball until I drop or stop hitting, whichever come first. Elaine and I will continue to travel, something we love to do. I just hope there will be an easier, better way to contact all my classmates, especially those missing ones, for our next reunion.
Favorite Memories: Even now when I drive by old U. City high, a smile spreads across my face, as it seems like only yesterday that I road my bike as a sophomore, drove up as a junior/senior and walked thru those doors. Thinking about the events that changed and formed my personality during my years spent there, only brings back all the great times, friends, and teachers that crossed my path. My life changed so much during my time there, that it is hard to list them all. Meeting my future wife, making life long new friends, while keeping all the old friends made on the playground at Pershing and my year spent at Hanley, gaining the respect of my parents, peers, and teachers are just a few things that made those years fly by for me. Playing football, especially my senior year, when I had the honor of playing with a group of guys that did not know the meaning of the word QUIT. Even thou, we did not win a game that year, we never stopped playing our hearts our. I think the TOTAL number ! of points we lost those 8 games was under 8 (you can look it up) and the most in any one game was 3 points. What a heartbreaking and morale building season that was. In baseball, our team went all the way to the regional semi-finals at State. But, in our final win, Jerry Musen and I both hit 2 run homers and Mark Pascal had a one hitter (should of been a no hitter, except I could not field a swinging bunt down the third base line cleanly, I should of been given an error, sorry Mark). Whether it was going to Steak/Shake, Hamburger Heaven (oh that sauce), or Chuck-A-Burger after watching our basketball team win another game at the buzzer with Imergoot, Brewen, Elbom, or Feldman making the winning basket, or helping out with the paper drives, sock hops, carnivals, decorating for prom/homecoming, computer date dances, and of course, Wigwam all bring smiles to my face. My growth during those years was immeasurable for me to grasp even now, as my hair gets whiter, thinner, and I ! fight to keep my waistline intact.

Life and Family: I've been in the San Francisco Bay Area the last 30 years. I fell in love with this area when, after graduating high school and hitchhiking to the Haight-Ashbury, I spent that Summer of Love in San Francisco. I returned to U.City, casting about for the next few years, and moved to Moscow Idaho in 1973 with my girlfriend. In Idaho I worked as a land surveyor, then went back to school at the University of Idaho, collecting a degree in geology. I got into UC Berkeley as a grad student and moved to the Bay Area in 1979. I left school in 1981, spent a summer mapping ruins in Turkey, and traveled a lot doing mineral exploration until 1986. I'd met a fabulous woman (my wife Dulce), decided to quit the traveling geologist's life, and started working in software development. The last 15 years I've been a web engineer. I've a stepdaughter Erin 33 and son Douglas 22. Lovely people they. Bicycles are my favorite toys and I'm riding a lot, both road and dirt.

Life and Family: At the 30th reunion, we had just adopted our daughter Julianna a year before. This year we happily celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in June, probably the first "Jewish Chinese Princess" to have one at our temple. As you can see in the photo above, my husband and I are very proud of her.
It has been a very busy 10 years raising our daughter, and a very rewarding 10 years watching her grow and develop into a bright and beautiful teenager. I am at a very different stage in my life than most of my classmates (many of whom have grandkids), and have gotten used to being the oldest mom in whatever class Julie happens to be in. I have been a dance mom, softball and volleyball mom and now will be starting Julie off in her journey in learning Chinese.
I also celebrated becoming an adult B'nai Mitzvah along with 8 other people at our congregation two years ago. Learning Hebrew was something I always wanted to learn, and after being asked for a class on Sunday mornings (when most of us were at the temple for our kids' religous school), our temple finally gave us the chance, and it was a great two years, first year of basic Hebrew and the 2nd year of an adult B'nai Mitzvah class. I also made some friends in the class along the way. Doing a B'nai Mitzvah myself also helped me with helping my daughter with her own. She did a much better job than her mom!
Next 10 Years: As for the next 10 years, I am looking forward to retiring within the next 4 years and having the time to do the things I don't have time for now with being a full time working mom. I look forward to having time to "chill out", to do volunteer work, and in 10 years, to having seen my daughter through college.
Favorite Memories: I had fun with a lot of art classes, have fond memories of those classes, and still am in touch with some of the friends I had then.

Our two daughters are at Ladue high school, and so we've begun the college scouting trips (good excuse to travel). I've continued the astronomy interest from U. Life and Family: We've had the pleasure of living and working all over the Southwest. NM and AZ are beautiful, but we returned to CO after a 20 yr. absence.
Favorite Memories: Starting every day with Orchestra and sharing that experience with those who were there; in particular, Mr. Lang. Also, the beautiful mind of David Suits, whose influence and friendship I cherished.
Living through the social/political changes with classmates of like-minded values, and the friendships that have endured over the years.

Richard Mellman

Spouse: Marianne Alweis Mellman
Phone Number: (301) 587-2182
E-mail Address: rmell@erols.com
Present Occupation: Attorney, US Department of Education

Life and Family: Marianne and I have been married for 27 years. Once I got to the DC area in 1979 I decided to stay put. Marianne and I continue to work in different parts of education. I’ve been a lawyer in the US Department of Education where I specialize in K-12 federal programs, and continue to look forward to a change of Administration. Marianne teaches special education in Montgomery County, MD.
For the last ten, we’ve watched our two kids move through their teenage years and become adults. Really quite amazing. Hannah loves the political world and is working in the Capitol Hill office of Sen. Claire McCaskill, whom she really likes and respects. This fall, Zach will be a senior in the University of Maryland School of Business majoring in finance, a facility that he did not get from his father. Marianne and I now have our house to ourselves. I like the change. -- After vacationing every year on the Maine coast for over 25 years, we bought a small house and five acres there two years ago. We love it.
This will be my first reunion. I look forward to seeing folks again.
Next 10 Years: I’ve been taking pottery classes at a local ceramics studio for the past two years, and love the whole process. I see myself lawyering for another five years or so and then spending more and more time making pots, as well as extending our vacation time in Maine, where I'd make myself a studio.
Favorite Memories: Pro and Pro Shows, Joe Hale and chemistry, singing Gaudiamus Igitur, and showing us how he could lift his arms over his head from his back to front, Shellnut-Zaman American Studies, Judy Grey's English class, Camp White Cloud, pizza at Frank & Helen's and Talyanos, late night at Steak N Shake, first dates, Wigwam on Fridays and Folk Dancing on Saturdays, playing pool with Paul and with the guys at Dale's while listening to "I Get Around".

Present Occupation: Teacher in the Rockwood School District

Life and Family: The past ten years have been ones of extreme highs and lows. My children are my joy. Daughter, Stephanie, receives her Ph.D. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology this May from Michigan State and she has been hired to teach psychology at UMSL. Son, Patrick, is a senior at Truman State University.
My passion, barbershop singing, reached its pinnacle when our chorus, the Ambassadors of Harmony, won the International Barbershop Chorus Championship in 2004 in Louisville, KY. Another barbershop highlight from 2004, was our chorus trip to Germany, Netherlands and Sweden. There are a lot of Europeans who have become barbershop addicts. It's great. Please look for our shows at the Touhill Center. I share this hobby with UC alums Doug Durham ('67), Mike Rubin ('64?), Mike Merritt ('70) and Mark Merritt ('75).
The lowest point, not of just the past ten years, but of my life, was my divorce. I think that I am about over it, but it will linger for a while longer.
Next 10 Years: For the next ten years I would like to continue teaching, supporting school functions at Rockwood Summit High, spend time with my Dad and brothers, and to reconnect with my high school friends. Of course, since you asked, barbershopping will continue to play an important role in my life as long as I still have a voice that can contribute to the chorus.
Favorite Memories: My favorite memories are of the musical productions of the Music Man, the Sound of Music and of course, South Pacific. Also, I still recall that 9th grade production of Finnean's Rainbow. I frequently tell my students about my years as a tackling dummy on the football team. I made all of our players better tacklers and down field blockers as they repeatedly practiced knocking me to the ground. Thanks.

Life and Family: Will be married 31 years in September. Watched our two children grow to adulthood. Kevin is 26 and Melissa is 25. Both are still single. Even though my son is grown, I am still very involved in the Boy Scouts as an adult leader and trainer. I enjoy the outdoors, camping, bicycling, hiking, backpacking, and sailing.
Next 10 Years: I will retire at the end of 2007 with 30+ years at SLCC. Will look for something else to do in order to stay in the work force. I will have more time for the Scouts as well. I am setting up a woodworking shop at home and plan to do more gardening and cooking. I hope to get to travel to some of the more remote places in this country to see what beauty still exists.
Favorite Memories: I remember the Henley brothers and taking all the drafting classes, also Mr. McKinney's chemistry class and his "water lecture" that he gave each year. Then there was the Audio/Visual Club, and helping with painting sets for the big Dr. Pro productions. I remember the computer-dating dance. We filled out a questionnaire prior to the dance. At the dance we were given a list of people to meet. What a disaster that was!

Life and Family: I've been married 36 blissful years to my husband, Bruce. My son Benjamin is 32 years old and currently lives in St. Louis. In the past 10 years, I have successfully gone back to school to get a Child Development Associate in Applied Science and graduated with all honors. I have also graduated from the Melton Institute, given by, the Hebrew University. And, my husband and I are cancer survivors-thank God! I love working with pre-schoolers at the J.C.C. Early Childhood in St. Louis. I have worked there for 20 yrs. I have spent at least 1 million dollars on scrapbooking! I love to work out my short fat body in the fitness center and I have an exotic, Indian ring-neck parrot, Elijah that I have adopted.
Next 10 Years: I would like to be alive and healthy, along with my husband! I would like to turn on the news and hear good things in the news! If I am able to attend classes in any of the subjects I am interested in, great! And if I could go on a cruise, even better! Alaska would be exciting to visit.
Favorite Memories: Dr. Procasky was my favorite teacher and anything associated with his class-acappella choir, the musicals, were ofcourse my favorite memories. I loved modern dance, I forgot the lovely teacher that taught it. Eventhough I flunked chemistry, Mr. Hale was a hoot, making us sing Godiamus Igatur (probably not spelled right). One day someone snuck in back of dear Mr. Hale and put shaving cream on his head (he was bald). In turn, Mr. Hale sprayed the whole room with crazy foam! Can you believe the dress code in those days verses the dress code of today!

Present Occupation: Information technology manager

Life and Family: My career in the computer field has pretty much consumed me. We make time to enjoy the outdoors and pursue interests in photography, travel, sports (canoeing, hiking, and archery). We have been spending more time looking after senior family members. It is good to be able to share family responsibilities with my brother Mike Myers, who graduated U.City in 1968. I still keep in touch with high school classmates Ed Mills and Billy Gordon.
Next 10 Years: Retirement
Favorite Memories: It was in Mr. Edenburn’s Geometry class in the spring of 1966 that I met my high school sweetheart and wife to be, Linda Krasner. We are celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary this June. I have a lot of fond memories of U. City high. Those days were full of hope and anticipation of the future, and all we had to think about on Saturday mornings was what to do for fun. Mostly, I remember the friendships and the mentoring by my favorite teachers
In contrast, we now live in California near San Francisco where I work in the computer field. My career in technology has been good to me, spanning over 30 years. I now think about early retirement. I want to make more time for some of those old high school interests in sports and the arts.
We do visit St. Louis regularly to keep in touch with family. I am amazed at the many improvements like the MetroLink, the nice changes taking place in the U. City loop area and especially the refurbishing of Forest Park. I am looking forward to catching up with former classmates.

Present Occupation: Middle School Math Teacher

Life and Family: Life and Family: Ken and I have been happily married for 33 years. We were fixed up on a blind date back in 1972 by Renee Bidnick (class of '66). She knew we were both Catholic so she figured we would like each other. She was correct, and we were married two years later. Our two children Dan (31) and Julie (29) are both married. Presently our daughter, her husband Brian, and our granddaughter Hannah (2), are all living with us while their house is being built in Wentzville. This has been quite a change for Ken and I after being empty nesters for several years. It has been a wonderful experience spending so much time with my daughter and her family. As so many of you have already written there is nothing better than being a grandparent. We have another grandchild due next January. I am still teaching middle school math at St.Joseph School in Cottleville, Mo. This is a large Catholic School with 850+ students, located in St. Charles County. I've been a te! acher there for the past 17 years and the enrollment continues to keep growing.
Next 10 Years: Hopefully my family and I will continue to be blessed with good health. I plan to keep teaching for a few more years and then I hope to retire. Ken and I have gone on a cruise each summer for the past four years and we are looking forward to more cruising and traveling adventures in the future.
Favorite Memories: I'm filled with wonderful memories from 9th grade through High School. When I came to Hanley Jr. High everyone was so welcoming. I, like Kathy Novack, very much remember being in Mrs. Wolk's Algebra class the day they announced JFK died. It was a very dramatic moment with Mrs. Wolk breaking the chalk while writing on the board during the announcement. I remember so many great times at Wigwam on Friday nights (we were so lucky to have a place to go every Friday night). I loved working on the Pep Club activities after school, going to the G.A.A. Father-Daughter Banquets (remember those skits we would work together on and perform), and I loved all the Big-Sis, Little-Sis Activities. I also enjoyed all the elections for Student Council, no matter who was running we always had a good time working on the posters. Like many of you, I remember spending many great times with our dear friend Val. When I read all the Personal Info's I realize how many people from our c! lass that I still do not know, so I am looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new friends from our class at the reunion.

Present Occupation: High School English Teacher

Life and Family: My husband Mark (no, not the one from U.City) and I have been married for 35 years and have two children. Our daughter, Lauren, is married and living in Chicago where she is an attorney. Our son, Josh, just graduated from medical school in May and has begun his first year of residency. Mark still practices law and I am still teaching English in Parkway...not retired quite yet, but soon! Teaching and visiting our kids in their respective cities has kept me quite busy.
Next 10 Years: I guess that my family's health and seeing our kids continue to be happy and successful would be the most gratifying things I could wish for. We hope to be able to travel, amass some healthy grandchildren down the road, and enjoy a world that is safe and peaceful!
Favorite Memories: The memories I have remain so vivid that I can hardly believe that they occured 40+ years ago...how can that be? Like so many others have already said...the U.City hangouts were such perfect examples of life the way it was during the 1960's...almost like they were created for a movie or sit-com. I can also recall: sitting in an Algebra class at Hanley Jr. High (Mrs. Wolk...scary lady...)on November 22, 1963 when the announcement was made over the P.A. about JFK...I also remember people calling the office at U.City and leaving messages for bogus people just to hear the names being announced on the P.A.: Mike Hunt, Seymour Butts, Buster Cherry etc. etc. and wondering why the ladies in the office hadn't caught on after so many years...Mr. Poos' Physiography field trip in the pouring rain--Margie Kranzberg, Bob Imber and I sneaking back on the bus so that we could escape the elements...Pro Shows (especially the one that Sue Pickerel and I got kicked out of for talk! ing during a rehearsal) and being SHOCKED when Pro actually apologized to me later for acting so hastily...American Studies with Fendelman and Glauert, easily the greatest class ever...having chaperones (teachers? parents?) at Wig Wam walking around the dance floor making sure that no one danced too close or too suggestively...the Friday night sights(people crusing around in their cars), sounds (the U.City signature horn-honk)and smells (Canoe, English Leather, Jade East, Shalimar, Ambush) converging upon the senses all at once and imprinting memories that do not easily fade. What a great time and great place to grow up!

Present Occupation: Contract auditor & admin at large local real estate co. & part time semi-professional dog trainer

Life and Family: I've been in administration at a real estate company since 1986 because I need a reliable source of income and health insurance! But starting in late 1995 I followed my heart and also took on the "spare time" job of training assistance dogs for physically handicapped people. This was a very challenging pursuit, and I put many long hours into helping people gain their independence. I have just recently "retired" from this endeavor after more than ten years, but I found sharing my expertise in this area to be the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
And, in just the past four years I have been blessed with five grandchildren!!!!!
Next 10 Years: I don't know that it can happen, but I would love to take early retirement at 62 and pursue what I have wanted to do for so long: Become a full time professional dog trainer.
Favorite Memories: Chatting with friends in the morning while waiting for school to start. Art class. Drama class. Modern Dance class. Walking home on nice days after school. (I had to walk home on not-nice days too, but that's NOT a favorite memory!)

Present Occupation: emergency room pediatrician at st. anthony's medical center

Life and Family: I have been doing emergency medicine for the last 9 years, after 20 years in private practice. The lifestyle is certainly better. About 3 years ago, I started running. So far, I've completed 5 marathons and several half marathons.
My four children are all in graduate school. David is finishing his Master's in marine biology at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and will stay somewhere in Florida to complete his doctorate. Jonathan is finishing his MBA at Wake Forest and will be moving to Memphis this summer to begin working for Fed Ex. Joshua is in his first year of law school at the University of Georgia, and, his twin sister, Sally, is in the first year of her MBA program at Rollins College in Florida. Needless to say, I am very proud of all of them.
Next 10 Years: I'll be working very hard until I get the college bills paid off. Then, I'd like to move into a little beach house in either Florida or North Carolina and try my hand at writing children's books. Of course, I'd love to travel some, and I'd like to do at least 5 more marathons before my knees completely give out.
Favorite Memories: Well, not everything is warm and fuzzy. The hormones were tough, the acne was tough, and, like most teenagers, finding your proper slot in the food chain was very tough. However, what I'll remember most are people, not events. Friendships and acquaintances and first love. Sadly, none of these people have continued to be part of my life. Getting my kids through school, I have also come to appreciate the quality and depth of education that we were lucky enough to receive. It has really helped to make my path through life much easier.

Next 10 Years: good health while continuing to be creative and making a contribution in my profession.
Favorite Memories: I loved U. City. The years there provided me invaluable experiences but also afforded a great deal of fun. Friday night basketball games, cruising down to the Steak and Shake on Olive, having a pizza at Frank and Helen's, playing in the varsity band, being exposed to some incredible teachers.

Present Occupation: Sales Rep /"Baglady"

Life and Family: I feel very blessed and fortunate to have my health and family. I have recently remarried after having been widowed for almost 14 years. I still enjoy working...not exactly sure if I'll ever retire...I'm half way there...TIRED, just not RE-TIRED... Life is good.....My old friend from kindergarten, Randee Ross, was my "flower girl" in my recent wedding and Beverly Padratzik from first grade was a participant as well....HOW old are we???? I don't ever feel old enough to be a grandmother...REALLY! Both my children are married and I have two wonderful grandsons 6&9 years old...all live in STL...I live in a historic home built in 1890 in Bonne Terre, Mo with the love of my life.....We love it!!!!! You do not need a passport to visit...only 1hr. and 15 minutes from St. Louis!
Next 10 Years: I would like to relax and smell more roses, providing I still can "remember" where to find the roses! If we can all keep our sense of humor and look at the glass as half full and major on the major, not the minor...I will be content to enjoy my life and keep everything in perspective. It seems to me that what our parents told us when we thought we were invincible, that if we realized and appreciated all we "have" instead of what we "don't" have...life is so much richer. I remember my mom saying, "We may not be wealthy, but we are "rich"." That sure rings true....as we grow older(I didn't say mature!), I truly believe we have grown to appreciate little things and never take anything or ANYBODY for granted. My achievements in 10 years...to be able to write this again for our 50th reunion!!!
Favorite Memories: TOO MANY memories and not enough space or time to share now...but I can honestly say...it was a wonderful experience...the highs and lows.....what a great time and so many events that helped build(?) our adult character.....my friends from childhood that were also friends from elementary school are fantastic!(extended family)I just had lunch with an old friend who I knew from dancing school...before Jackson Park.. that I hadn't seen in maybe close to 15+ years(or more)...Sheila Brin Cohen! I enjoyed the extracurricular activities the MOST, needless to say. I will always remember the awesome experience of being a counselor at Camp Whitecloud as well as GAA, Homeroom, football games, basketball games, etc....committees, paper drive, the sounds of cheering and the smell of the home football games at a REAL stadium.....no security devices..what a foreign concept. The smell of the lunchroom can never be recreated ...disgusting....Father & Daughter Banquet...Student! Council and elections...Valerie, my wonderful and very missed friend!!! The bonding of friends...girls and guys was amazing! Definitely a "Leave It To Beaver" time for growing up! A "current photo"...not on your life...I have a few months to diet before the reunion!! Can anybody relate?????

Present Occupation: Owner / Commercial General Contracting Company

Life and Family: I've been blessed throughout my entire adult life. Tina and I have been married for 31 great years. She is the President of Ursuline Academy; an all-girls Catholic high school in Kirkwood. Oldest son Tim (27)is an attorney working for a firm in Clayton. Daughter-in-law Diane is a teacher. Second son Brian (25)is a third year medical student currently doing his clinicals in Chicago. Daughter Catherine (23) is completing an art history degree next semester.
Next 10 Years: I'm looking forward to slowing down the work pace, but I have no thoughts about retiring anytime soon. Tina and I enjoy traveling & will do so when time permits. Hopefully, we'll have the pleasant experience of grandchildren in the years to come. More than anything I want good health for me and my family. Since this photo was taken last July, I forced myself to get back in the gym and now I'm 37 lbs. lighter. (It takes a photo to realize that you don't look as good as you think you look!)
Favorite Memories: It seems like a different lifetime ago. It was a great place to live and grow up in. I didn't participate much in activities during the high school years but I still remember a lot of the names and faces of my classmates. Without looking at name tags I hope I can recognize many of those faces again at Blueberry Hill. So even if you don't remember me, buy me a beer anyway. I'm amazed at how many of you recall the names of teachers. I'd recall them too if A.D.D. was being diagnosed back then. I do remember getting big laughs along with Wiseman in our art class. No wonder my GPA suffered! So I'm blaming him that I turned out to be a general contractor and the rest of the '67 graduating class becoming doctors.

Mary Ellen Rosen Brockett

Spouse: David Brockett
E-mail Address: Artzharlot@aol.com
Present Occupation: Artist

Life and Family: Dave retired from the Secret Service nine years ago and I quit substitute teaching. So, after over three decades of marriage and moving from California to Indiana, we finally got to spend time together. We enjoyed living on a lake, but I thought building a house on the beach in Florida would be better and learned the meaning of the phrase "be careful what you wish for you may get it." We lived between Destin and Seaside, in Blue Mountain Beach (50ft. elevation counts as a mountain in Florida). We jumped into the community life. Dave wrote songs for a musical called Grit and Grace, and I was on the board of three non profit organizations, writing a column for the local newspaper, teaching art, and even acting in a community theater. Even so, after taking about 400 photos of the sunset, we got tired of living with tourists and moved to the big city down the road a piece, Pensacola. Now I only teach once a year at an art convention in Las Vegas and my artwork is in Gallery 331. Our older daughter, Kim, recently had our first grandchild, William, and since her husband is in Iraq we got to be with her for Will's birth. Her younger sister, Melissa, is an attorney working as a law clerk for a federal judge in Nashville. We love to travel and visit with friends all over the country, and go on a couple of cruises every year.
Next 10 Years: If we double the number of our age, it is 118, and how many 118 year olds do you know? This means no one can claim to be "middle aged" anymore, and we know what comes after middle....old. Just staying healthy and alive will be wonderful and if I can't, knowing I did my best to stay close to family and friends, enjoy life and leave the world a better place is a worthwhile goal.
Favorite Memories: Talking with my best friend Janice (Kaufman) Seigel, and I consider myself lucky to be able to still do so after all this time.

Present Occupation: Realtor/Office Manager

Life and Family: After reading all the lengthy bios everyone seems to be writing, and after being brave enough to submit a photo, I decided it was time to pump up my info. After graduating from the University of Illinois, I moved to Chicago to get my master's from Northwestern. Fate intervened when I met the love of my live in 1972 when we were both working at the Chicago Tribune, selling ad space. The master's was put on a back burner, and I never went back. However, daughter, Dana (29, also U. of I. grad, buyer for Bon-Ton, lives in Milwaukee) got her master's from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Son, Douglas (26, also U. of I. grad), is a manager at Albertson's Foods. Haven't been back to St. Louis in a long, long time but awfully excited about returning for the 40th. Like a lot of you out there, hope I recognize you and you do the same for me!
Next 10 Years: Not sure about retiring, hopefully can continue to keep up this pace for a lot of years to come. Husband, Marty, was a manager at a printing company for 28 years, but changed direction 5 years ago and semi-retired, becoming, of all things, a school bus driver (a position he loves).
Favorite Memories: Wig Wam, of course (I was refreshment chair and always had a stock of candy in my basement which I happily shared w/friends), Pro and the awesome musicals (all the sweet little Jewish girls dressed as nuns, sitting in the wings, waiting to go on stage for Sound of Music), cherished friendships, unbelievable education. Does anyone remember the overnight party at my house after my parents moved to Springfield, IL? And my apologies to all who attended the computer dance. I took the results of your questionnaires and consulted w/my friends to determine who everyone wanted to be with. We just matched everyone else up without any thought at all. Teenage girls really are awful. I have not kept up with anyone, but really look forward to seeing old friends!

Favorite Memories: Of course Wigwam on Friday nite was always a favorite time. And then there were all of those card games in Goldberg's basement.

Phone Number: (520) 770-9007

Life and Family: From a young age I was fascinated by those who were different from me, and this motivated my curiousity to explore a larger world. Out of my first marriage came my beautiful daughter Kym. Motherhood combined with my experience living in Los Angeles enlarged my life spiritually and creatively. I became a student of dance and was fortunate to study with the talented choreographer Russell Clark who trained and inspired me. To this day I have great reverence for him, for he gave me permission to express the creativity that lingered in my depths. I became a member of a touring dance company, teacher of dance, and currently work with the elderly, sharing the magic of music and movement. As part of my transformation I became Saiyeeda. I married a second time to a man I loved tremendously and who tested me dramatically. These tests lead me to my ultimate spiritual teacher, Sathya Sai Baba, who I have been blessed to visit in India many times. Through his example and guidance I strive to manifest an honest consciousness to the best of my ability and incorporate more service activities into my life. Currently I enjoy living in the desert of Southern Arizona most of the year, and the woods of S.W. Oregon in the summer. Kym, my precious daughter is an acupuncturist. I continue to express myself through the artistry of dance, beadwork, and service. Spiritual inquiry is primary to me.
May happiness and peace be yours,
Saiyeeda

Present Occupation: Sales

Life and Family: I currently sell sheet rubber and conveyor belting to mostly industrial accounts. Most of my time is spent with my 22 year old son who is a bright autistic young adult. Too bad he has a handicap because he would have been a good athlete. I would like to think he gets it from me, but I'm sure it is mostly from my wife's side of the family. Her uncle use to play ball for the St. Louis Browns in the 50's. Tough thing about getting older is that your close friends and love ones pass away. Lost a good friend and U City 67 Grad when Milt Platnico died in June 2001. I still enjoy seeing myself on the TV screen when the movie White Palace comes on. I am dancing in the wedding reception (party) scene for about 8-10 seconds.
Next 10 Years: I showed this question to my co-workers and they all agree that I should say that I hope that I continue to still breathe and win Powerball.
Favorite Memories: Mr Poos field trip was a enjoyable. I did not think I would like it, but I had a great time. Hamburger Heaven had the greatest burgers. I always ordered single sauce, but once in a while I would be adventurous and order double sauce. The Pin Ball Machine at Fatman's shoe shine shop in the Loop. I have good memories of other times in the U City school system. Summer camp at Delmar Harvard was fun especially playing softball against our arch rival Pershing Grade School. The summers when I played baseball for my Koury League team the Red Sox has good memories(I just wished I hit better). Walking to Hanley Jr. High with Larry Tsevis, David Bierman and sometimes Harold Gast stands out. How many people recall that there use to be an underground walkway under Delmar Blvd. by Kingsland Ave? Going to the Varsity Show on Friday nights and getting kicked out in the middle of the movie for talking too much. One regret is that I wish I was more of a joiner. There are! so many 67 grads that I did not know even attended the school. There are so many memories, but I better stop here.

Life and Family: During the past decade I became an orphan and a grandpa. Becoming an orphan at age 48 was life-changing, but knowing Dad was now in heaven with Mom made it good. Grandson and oldest daughter l ive with us, so not an empty nester...
Next 10 Years: Staying alive, staying healthy and active, and hopefully staying employed till intended retirement. Mostly, just hoping for continuing closelness with family and friends. I've been selling hospital furniture for about 25 years and have never been hospitalized. My hope is to keep it that way.
Favorite Memories: Just growing up with a great family, great friends and an easy life. Education was obviously good, but that is hindsight. Specific favorite times included many Frnak n Helens' pizzas, cruising with the top down in Bob Imber's Mustang convertible, time spent with a former girlfriend or two, and graduating on time (it was touch and go due to missing a few PE classes)...

We were involved in a terrible car accident where I was severly injured. My husband and brother were the so supportive and caring and for that I will be forever grateful. Not having much family any longer, I was amazed and humbled by the friendship and encouragement I received . Life and Family: My life has turned out better than I thought. My marriage to Felicia has a lot to do with that. In the past ten years I've thought a lot about my years at Pershing, Hanley, and UC. I am thankful to my old friends that I grew up with [Danny Dreyfus, Danny Seymour, Sammy Kelner, Louie Lazarus, Tim Mullin, Bill Goggin, Bill Sevedge, Mark Goldstein, Joe Tate, Pete Freeman, Larry Veltrop, Ricky Smith, Phil Brooks, Don Wood, Pete Vaccaro, Tommy Perrin, Wayne Markman and others] The girls I remember- Carol, Janice, Marcia, Cathy, Susan, Linda (who also taught kg), and Leah who taught me about books. Who could forget the fastest kid in the school- Linda Jean Jones! They all helped me become the person that I am today. Through play and interaction they taught me about how to get along with others, how to play sports, about other religious faiths, and how to play fair. I think about school because I have been a teacher since '71 and for the past 4 years I've b! een teaching kindergarten. These people helped me get there. I have passed along their teachings to the little ones.

Present Occupation: physician (surgical pathology) - Indiana University

Life and Family: I’m an academic physician practicing surgical pathology at the Indiana University Medical Center (Indianapolis), where I’ve been since 1980. I like my work but there’s too much of it, especially as we “Boomers” get older. I’ve been married for almost 34 years to the same woman, who is remarkably tolerant. We have 3 adult children, 2 sons and 1 daughter, from 23-29 years old – 1 married, 1 engaged and 1 available (son – email and phone # available on request).
Next 10 Years: My goal for the next 10 years is to try to make a difference for others. As my mother told me when she was very sick, money and things don’t matter; it’s only people that are important.
Favorite Memories: It’s very difficult to imagine that 40 years have passed since high school. Some images are still very clear – Mr. Hale doing the “Dance of the Prairie Chicken” (molecular motion – rotational, vibrational and translational); Tim Mullin running laps like a man possessed in PE; Miss Doyle calling everyone “Honey” in French class; Ira Slotkin trying to set a record for non-laundering of gym clothes; Mrs. Hotchner asking if we thought Polonius gave good or bad advice; “Indian ball” games on weekends with Jim Lowe, Kenny Schwartz, Joe Portnoy, Bruce Garber and Mark Goffstein; (I still wonder how Kenny could toss the ball with the wrong hand and end up hitting it); joking with Steve Dolgin and Joe Marcus; Mrs. Kimmel asking for the mantissa in trig class; and so on.

Present Occupation: Attorney with own firm

Life and Family: In 1997, I left the law firm in Clayton where I was a partner and joined a firm in Chesterfield. In July of 1997, I married Margarita Sokolovskaya, who is originally from Moscow, Russia. Our beautiful daughter, Eva, was born a year later and is now almost 9. In 2000, I left the Chesterfield firm and opened my own law practice in Clayton where I specialize in general business law, real estate, health care law, and immigration law.
In 2005, Margarita, who is a registered nurse, opened her own home health care agency, Astva Home Health Agency, providing skilled nursing care, physical therapy and other services under the Medicare program. I act as the administrator and lawyer for the agency, in addition to my regular law practice.
Since getting married, we have tried to take at least two trips a year, principally to Miami in the winter and the Hamptons in New York in the summer. We hope to go to Russia soon.
Next 10 Years: I would like to leave law practice and build our home health care agency to a point where we can sell it and retire to a place on the ocean.

Life and Family: I have had the great fortune to see my three sons change from boys to beautiful young men. I have lived a typical middle-class life. I go to work in the morning, come home to a wife in the evening, and am thankful for our health and ease.
Next 10 Years: I had a poetry teacher in college, who was an old man. Feeble but genuine. He was about to retire and he was working on a book of poetry. I don’t remember the title exactly, but it had to do with the fact that as a child he was left-handed but was forced to use his right hand. Now, he was ready to take up his left hand again. At age 57, I find that everything that was important to me before I started making a living is still important – maybe more important. Poetry, music, literature, family
Favorite Memories: Smoking Hava-Tampa cigars with Marty Cohen at Tropicana Bowling; cruising hamburger stands with the guys, hoping against the odds to find girls looking for a good time; Mr Poos’ earth science class and his nerdish, inspiring love for the subject; Miss Bowers warning an English class not to eat peanut butter before we went to a play at Webster University, because our breath would be offensive; listening to jazz in Lowell Grabel’s basement; my Honda 50.

Next 10 Years: Like my mother, who at 82 is still working at Macy's in PR, I plan to continue working. Maybe not as long as she has, but for a long time. We love to travel and of course we plan to spend a lot of time with our children and granchildren.

Life and Family: Tom and I have enjoyed living in the Chicago area. Eldest son, Bart, has a BFA and is a photographer on the west coast. Son, Ryker, graduated with a neuroscience degree and is a musician/waiter in Beverly Hills. Monica, the youngest, is a senior Film & Media Studies student at Washington University. Monica was an All American swimmer in high school and has been on the college swim teams at Tulane(my old street in U. City) and Washington University. Small World Memo: Ted Schirmacher was my husband's Beta pledge son at Wash U. Margie Sarasohn's cousin is my neighbor.

Life and Family: I drove over the road from 1995 until I began city work in 2002 and have traveled through all 48 states but Montana and Vermont. I really enjoyed seeing the varied beauty of the different states but it was also nice to spend less time away and to spend more time at home.
Next 10 Years: Looking forward to retiring and relaxing in San Diego where I lived for 10 years after my 4 year stint in the US Navy from 1968 until 1972.

Present Occupation: Retired June '07 after 35 1/2 years as a speech/language pathologist with SLPS

Life and Family: Professionally, I spent the last 10 years supervising speech implementers in the SLPS. These are gals/guys with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders who work full time for the district while working on their Masters degree. They did the therapy under my supervision while I was responsible for all legal things (IEPs, meetings, testing, etc). Personally, I lost 50+ pounds and gained a new respect for exercise (a word that didn't exist in my vocabulary before!). I traveled to Eastern Europe and Israel for the first time and watched both of my kids graduate from college.
Next 10 Years: I'd like to maintain my weight loss, continue to exercise and travel, work part time and do volunteer work.
Favorite Memories: I loved Herr Klein's German classes, participating in chorus for school musicals each year and the friendships.

Our son, Matt moved from Chicago where he went to college to NYC to pursue a career on Broadway. We enjoy trips to NYC to see him. I enjoy reading and spending time with friends.
Next 10 Years: Id like the next ten years to be pretty much like the last 10. Hopefully my husband can retire and we can spend more time traveling and possibly add another grandchild!

Present Occupation: Principal, On Track Consulting, LLC

Life and Family: Daughter #1 graduated from Indiana and is working in New York City as Youth Director at Congregation Rodeph Shalom. Daugher #2 is a freshman at Indiana. Spouse is a writer with Fair Isaac in Tulsa and does some freelance for a local magazine and university. I left the foundation I was working with and started a consulting practice for nonprofit organizations (www.ontrackok.net) about two years ago. That's been an interesting ride but I've been busy and I've always wanted to give this a try. My primary client is in Jackson, MS and I spend a great deal of time there. When I'm not flying back and forth, I have a client in Norman and 2 in Tulsa, OK.
Next 10 Years: Happiness, followed by some work stability. Given the consulting business, the former is more likely than the latter and probably more important.
Favorite Memories: Wig Wam, Chemistry Class, Cross-Country, Steak 'n Shake, the Temptatioins at Washington U., Biology (Mr. Jackoway?), the Pink Mustang, shooting pool, Valarie, Louie, Margie, Dale, Merle, Les, Cheryl, Randee, Marilyne, Mike, Louie, Harold, Joe, Steve, Mark, Katharine, Eleanor, Kathy, Ken, Larry and so on and so on.

Jana (nee Janet) Zvibleman

Spouse: Bruce Marbin
E-mail Address: brucejana@comcast.net

Life and Family: Hello all! I live in Oregon, and visit St. Louis occasionally to hold hands with my dear Dad. Bruce and I have been happily together 36+ years. We've both been active in the Montessori movement in various capacities - my specialty has been parent education. One of my identities is as a poet. I have loved knowing the ocean, after growing up landlocked. A fairly new delight still-water kayaking. I also am employed at a university as a writer and editor. Our daughter helps the world as a social worker and lives with her wonderful partner; our son helps the world in his work at Google in California. His splendid wife is currently a resident in pediatrics. One big adventure: after their "Hindjew" wedding, we had the privilege of traveling with them to South India to hug our new extended family. Strange, trying to summarize a life! If I make it to the reunion, will I be only woman daring to have my own very white hair? Oh - it's been a long time since I w! as called "Janet" - I am Jana, though for some reason I held onto Zvibleman! To my friends during U.City days: feel free to contact me directly.
